"we're entitled to it."

“They’re opening them (oil fields) up to other companies all over the world … We’re entitled to it,” Pickens said of Iraq’s oil. “Heck, we even lost 5,000 of our people, 65,000 injured and a trillion, five hundred billion dollars.”
Tell me again about how our invasion of Iraq wasn't about oil. Tell me how it was about Geppetto's WMDs or about how Saddam Hussein was really Osama's long lost brother or better yet how it was about liberating the Iraqi people.

Pickens says U.S. firms 'entitled' to Iraqi oil

Even worse: it wasn't the "U.S. firms" that lost those people and that money, it was the people of the United States. By Pickens' reasoning, any oil proceeds the firms make should go directly to the U.S. treasury, and be earmarked for the veterans of the war.

(Of course, this doesn't count the million plus Iraqi dead and the how many million refugees who still don't dare return. Are they entitled?) I don't get outraged very easily anymore, but this one does it!
