As for saving your own open pollinated corn, my suggestion is, if you live in an area that grows corn, don't. If you can grow in marginal areas or limited in closed green house do. If you have some open pollinated seed, and live in an area that has frankin corn, save it in a cool, dark and very dry place, like a cliff dweling. Some viable seed has been found in such places.
