goodbye meow meow

I used the heaviest shovel possible for the working of burying the cat we called Meow Meow; the shovel with the solid metal handle typically reserved only for prying up stumps. I wanted the job to be as hard as possible so that the weight of my emotions might be matched by that of my labor. I cried the whole time.

For the last year and a half she's spent more time at Jane's house, our neighbor across the street. Jane has experienced several tragedies in the last few years and perhaps Meow Meow sensed that. Jane said she was quite a comfort. Or maybe it's that Jane was feeding her wet food. Jane called this morning to tell us that Meow Meow, an older cat, was dying in her kitchen. My wife and I ran over and Meow Meow was no more.

I've tried sevreal times to tell the story of Meow Meow and I'm not sure I've ever done a great job. Here is the only version I've ever written down.

It's hard to explain what this cat meant to me and why. Goodbye Meow Meow. I will miss you greatly.

I had to bury my long time friend, Mason, a few weeks ago. Still cry. *hugs*

MeowMeow was the best cat a person could ask for. She never asked for anything other then some food and love but she gave back much more then that! Thank you Aaron for burying her. We will definitely miss MeowMeow!

Oh dear, that's truly the worst. I'm so sorry. We just buried our much beloved German Shepherd about two weeks ago (MUCH bigger hole). I do find that the physical labor of digging actually helps me cope, though.

Ohhh, she looks just like our KitKat, who is getting on in years . . . My condolences! KitKat is a wonderful cat, too -- very gentle and easy-going. I'll enjoy him while I have him!

i am so sorry. i took on three feral littermates 12 years ago and just lost the last one this spring. they also would not be tamed up enough to come inside, but lived in the basement and in the garden and they were just such a big part of my life- a constant, solid presence. it is hard to explain, but with most of us, you don't have to.

We had a cat named Meow Meow also. He was black. We took him to our friend's house to live since we could no longer have him at our house (too long of a story) and the disappeared! Never to be seen again. I grieve also, but with nothing to bury. I'm sorry for your loss.
